Ecuador?

Where am i staying?

I will be living with an Ecuadorian Family (Dad, Mom, and 2 Sons) in Quito, Ecuador. In Quito, the Sun sets around the same time everyday and the summit of Mount Chimborazo is the closest point on earth to the sun. Quito, sitting at 9,400 feet above sea level, means that while I might have to worry about altitude sickness when I first arrive, I don’t need to worry about contracting malaria at such high heights.

Where is Ecuador?

Ecuador is located in the western corner at the top of the South American continent. Ecuador is named after the Equator, the imaginary line around the Earth that splits the country in two. Most of the country is in the Southern Hemisphere. Ecuador is roughly the size of Colorado and is bordered by Colombia and Peru. Ecuador is famous for its diverse nature, beautiful colonial cities and towns and the fact that the locals like to eat guinea pig.

What am I Doing?

In Ecuador, I will be attending classes, traveling the country, and interning in a ministry that serves and delivers the Gospel to impoverished children. Our excursions will include a 5-day service trip to the Amazon jungle of Ecuador, 2-day trip to the mountain adventure town of Baños (Swing at the End of the World), 5-day trip to the Galápagos Islands (Santa Cruz), 5-day trip to the Andean river-front city of Cuenca, 4-day trip to the Coast of Ecuador for Debrief.
