SNAKES AND WATERFALLS! SWEAT, MUD, AND LOTS OF FUN. 01/27/24

I think it’s safe to say that I got put with the coolest, awesomest, most God-fearing family in Quito, Ecuador. I have been so blessed by their constant servitude, laughter, and joy. One of my favorite parts amidst the constant laughter, joy, and enthusiasm for life has been our time spent praying together before we go to bed. This weekend we drove about four hours, from almost 10,000 vertical feet to 1,600, to hike through the forest to some waterfalls. After losing what felt like 10 pounds of sweat from the humidity on our hike, we arrived at the most refreshing swimming hole I have ever witnessed. The cascading water, deep caves, and abundant fish life made for a relaxing and exciting afternoon. After this, we ate dinner alongside a river and then began the long drive back. I have decided that, while I am grateful for city life, I prefer to be surrounded by the beautiful noises of nature. I am blessed to enjoy God’s creation with such an amazing family as this one. Since arriving in Ecuador, I have been learning that God is my Father. A loving Father who wants to spend time with me. My response should not be legalistic obedience but a grateful and loving embrace to spending time with Him. Please be praying that I will continue to grow in this understanding. While I am grateful that God has blessed me with new family and friends in Ecuador, I still deeply love and miss all my family and friends back home! All praise to the God of the heavens and the earth!
